Screen Flooding

Gestures are fun to make in Second Life. You can use them to express yourself in many ways. There are gestures that indicate your pleasure in the dj’s choice of music. Others let you express your displeasure with another person. Gestures can be fun or incredibly irritating.

Problems arise when people disregard others around them and use them in a manner which becomes repetitive. For instance saying Hoo HOo HOOO HOOO HOO 25 times in a row. Is this really necessary? Do people really have nothing better to say? Perhaps a typed line like “Wow i really like this song” would express your feelings so much better. Or is it that people are too lazy to even bother anymore, when it is so much easier to press F4 20 times like a senior citizen at a Vegas slot machine.

When they are warned by a staff member that they are screen flooding some people become indignant.

[23:18] Staff Member: can you please cut down on the gestures
[23:19] Gesturbator: its how I express my self if you hatin it then leave :P
[23:21] Staff Member: No I will boot you if you continue
[23:21] Gesturbator: Sweeti ITS HOW I EXPRESS ME! Its something called FREE SPEECH!

Free Speech? Imagine if you went into a movie and stood up and shouted out ::::::: I ❤ THIS movie! ! ! ::::::: HOoOoOUlalalala :) 50 times in a row? You would be beaten senseless. If you are annoying to others there is no Free Speech at Ambrosia. There is only the 300 meter plunge into the dark ocean below.
