Those of you who have been coming to Ambrosia after dark will already be familiar with “The Iron DJ” Starlyt Somerset. She earned her name for her amazing ability to spin tunes for 7 or 8 hours in a row even while suffering from some RL chronic malady. She’s cute and fun and I recently asked her a few questions to find out more about her.

Phil Kearny‧: So how long have you been an Ambrosia DJ now?
Starlyt Somerset‧: late March
Starlyt Somerset‧: or early April
Starlyt Somerset‧: oh maybe it was late April, hell it’s been a long time.
Phil Kearny‧: You are known for taking really long shifts, in fact your nickname is “The Iron DJ”. Do you ever have trouble coming up with new songs to play?
Starlyt Somerset‧: No not really, In fact,, I have over 900 hours of music.
Starlyt Somerset‧: I haven’t repeated a single song.
Starlyt Somerset‧: The day i did 14 hours i didn’t repeat either
Phil Kearny‧: Wow, thats amazing. I can not believe where you find the stamina to play for 14 continuous hours.- I noticed that you play a rally wide range of music ranging from the 80s to the present day. Do you have any one genre in particular that you favor?
Starlyt Somerset‧: I favor mostly pop and dance and hiphop
Starlyt Somerset‧: oh and rock
Starlyt Somerset‧:I don’t favor any more than the others really to be honest
Starlyt Somerset‧:I love a lot of genres
Phil Kearny‧: What is it that you love about Djing…Is it the live audience, the instant feedback, the adulation of your many admirers?
Starlyt Somerset‧:Honestly, the main reason i love djing is because 10 years ago i helped my high school sweetheart/best friend after we broke up build his RL DJ business, and he passed 5 years ago, so I love DJing because I feel like I’m memorializing him.
Starlyt Somerset‧:it just makes me remember him and feel close to him again
Phil Kearny‧: What is currently your favourite song or songs to play?
Starlyt Somerset‧: DJ TonTon gave me my opening song that I love – LMFAO – Shooting Star; and then I love DJ Encore ft Engelina – I See Right Through to You, which was introduced to me by Chaos, and then my favorite song to play overall is 30 Seconds to Mars – Beautiful Lie
Starlyt Somerset‧: I guess I also love playing Baby Bash – Cyclone because I always say I can move like a cyclone because I’m from Kansas and I know how they move !
