The Geniuses at Linden Lab have announced this morning that you can now officially change your display name to anything you wish in the upcoming weeks. What does this mean? It means that if your current SL name is Peter Pimplesnatch you can change your name to display as John Pimplesnatch. This assumes that you love the name Pimplesnatch. You could of course change it to just about anything you can think of. There are tons of details of how this all works out and Torley Linden has released a Video describing the details.
This should be an interesting experiment in confusion as names are changed with abandon. Prepare to have to think a bit more about who all your friends are. Additionally, this will only work in Veiwer 2.1 – those using other viewers such as Emerald are out of luck. It’s also the end of civilization as we know it. OMG change! Before I go spreading rumours around perhaps its better if you just read the FAQs.
T Town, created by Tya Fallingbridge (who some of us girls know better as the designer of Pixel Mode), is without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite sim in Second Life. It is the single most inspirational, reflective and peaceful place I’ve found.
From the moment you enter it, classical piano music fills your ears and immediately calms you. You can wander through fields of golden wheat, explore the many abandoned shacks littered around the fields, explore the crashed airplane, or simply sit and have a picnic or fish.
T Town is inspired by events in Tya’s real life all bought together in one creative canvas in SL, and represents the beauty that exists in the world, the unlimited creative freedom within Second Life, and how people and music can inspire you.
Take a moment to experience lifes simple pleasures, and give T Town a visit when you’re in need of peace and quiet or listen to Clair Du Lune and look at the pictures of this amazing sim.
