Put on the Pink

Ambrosia has always been a place where people can come and have fun, let loose and not have to worry about what other people think. Which is what Pink Shirt Day is all about! Perky Button, DJ Temp and Chloe Platini donned their pink shirts to show support for the Pink Shirt Day (April 14) anti-bullying campaign.

Pink Shirt Day started when a high school boy was bullied for wearing a pink polo shirt to class. In reaction, a group of seniors went and purchased 50 pink shirts to pass around to other classmates to show support for their mistreated peer. Even in SL we are not immune from being bullied as many people resort to or experience forms of cyber bullying.

Pink Shirt Day serves as a reminder to always try and be patient, respectful, and kind to others from all walks of life…even Second Life :)

Wearing Fenced Goods

Since I work at a busy club, Ambrosia Dance club, I see many people come and go and I have a terrible weakness.. I am addicted to inspecting what people are wearing. The sad thing is I see so many people wearing stolen – ripped things (hair mostly) When I see such a person I usually IM them to tell them – they usually have no idea!

I remember one girl once told me she got the hair when she joined SL and she thought it is a free starting pack for noobs. Oh well, honey it is not! Someone used a copybot and stole it, re-packaged it, and sold it as their own product.
I know many times people wander around the grid and see what they think is a bargain and buy it. But many times the item they are purchasing is actually stolen.

Since most of us would like to not be part of the problem of supporting thieves who steal the hard work of others, I decided to make some tips on how to you can see if an item you are about to purchase is stolen.

1. It is stolen 100% if someone tosses you a pack of full perm hair, skins… Skins and hair are usually NO TRANSFER!

2. Check the creator- click properties and see who made the item, then go to creator’s profile and see if there is something written in the profile– like a hair store.. anything what could tell you he is the creator. Empty profiles are weird if the date of creation is not that old!

3. Inspect it- Rez the item on the floor, right-click and go more, more and inspect. In 2.0 viewer check the item’s profile and then click details. (see the photos)There you can see all about the item. Check the creator’s profile. (Note: hair contains a lot of prims, it is best to do this in a sandbox.) The huge indicator can also be – most thieves often don’t even change the original name of the hair. (for example- you see “Truth” or “ETD” hair name and the creator is totally different then it should be.)

4.If you see stolen stuff is sold … then contact the real creator and let them deal with it further.

The key is- buy things from trustful stores, period, not some *cough* brazilian nude beach*cough* (I made that up) If you need help, IM me in world.

PS: You can also inspect the vendor where the item is bought… if you are not sure it is original.. so you can inspect and go under content and click on it and see the creator under properties.

Please note that the object used to take example photos has nothing to do with stolen content. I just used it to show how to inspect in 2.0 viewer.

This week, a challenge was issued…just how many people could DJ SilverSpike partner in a day?!

Once the gauntlet was thrown down, the hilarity ensued, with a grand total of 24 partnerships in 24 hours! This is now the official record for most Second Life Partnerships in one day. I dare you to challenge it.

Some quotes from the lucky brides and grooms included:

“Wow, those 30 seconds I was hitched to DJ SilverSpike were the best 30 seconds of my second life so far!!” and,

“Aww poo poo bear!”

“I just partnered DJ SilverSpike and all I got was this lousy t shirt”

“You better freakin divorce me”

Here’s a full list of the ‘victims’ so you may taunt/point/laugh at your leisure!

Noiz Cox, Jewells Bazar, Gerard Glenwalker, Dailyn Holfe (what WAS I thinking, he even made me pay his fees!!), River Snowbear, Constantine Ahren,
Emily88 Lane, Onton Odisark, Ginger Silverblade, Cinnamonsin, Nadya Metaluna, Nevea Cerise, Starlisha Jewell, Summerr Hillburton, Lorellai Kondor, Luscious Luckstone,
JessicaP Artful, Shila Haroldsen, LadyLove Silvercloud, Kiana Foxley, Venus Petrov, Maureen McLean, Ivoni Miles.

…I’ve saved this next one for last folks – it’s a biggy…..Phil Kearny!!! Who was so excited at the prospect of being partnered to the wonderful Spike that he exclaimed “Wait, did monkeys just fly out of my a$$ – because that is the day I am getting partnered.” But he finally caved in and accepted.

So let us all hail the new king of quickie romance in Second Life. Will his record every be broken? We shall see. But never let it be said that we don’t know how to have fun here at Ambrosia Dance Club!! Even if it’s humour with a twist…
