Time to go for a ride

Field Trips No Comments »

After we finished our last gig on Friday it was time to take a trip out into the grid.  A friend recommended checking out the sim owned by AM Radio so a quick search and teleport transported me into a different world.

This is a full sim and its set up as what looks like a midwestern landscape in the 1930s.  The details are absolutely awe inspiring and real show some of the true potential of creating in Second Life®.

A winter landscape presents itself.  It actually feels like the wind is whipping across the landscape.  A lonely farmhouse comes up and barn invites you to come explore.

It’s a full sim but thankfully I was able to rez up an Ambrosia Shuttle to get around in.  We drove around the landscape admiring the highly detailed objects.

The barn houses intricately crafted items such as this monoplane and antique roadster.  There are so many details to examine closely and the shading and lighting are truly impressive.

The attic of the farmhouse features old chairs and abandoned windmill parts.  Again the detail is really fascinating to see.

If you have some free time from shopping or griefing do yourself a favour and check out this sim.  I think you will really enjoy it. Take your time and really examine the detail closely.

Gerhardt becomes Internet famous

Events No Comments »

I was just surfing the internet and ran across this item. Apparently, according to this French website, the very first thing you should think of when you encounter the word Ambrosia is our very own eccentric Gerhardt Apfelbaum.  First out of 500 no less. I am quite impressed! I bet it was the rainbow speedos that did it.

Check out the link below.

We are the World

Events No Comments »

Another day, another event.  Today’s theme followed yesterday’s idea with a display of nations flags and scale models of the Taj Majal, the Eiffel Tower and Stonehenge.  Its amazing what you can find in search these days.  It’s been a blast decorating for these parties lately and the costumes have been great.  So much better than the usual “Best in Black” nonsense that we have been doing for so long.

A very good turnout for this event and no visits from the Nazis this time.

Not quite sure what country Boa Demonia represented while strutting on the dance floor in his tattered wife-beater tee shirt but I think its Slobenia.  This of course is not to be confused with Lorellai’s home country of Slovenia.  If the Slovenians are anything like Lor then they are neat, tidy and fastidious there.  See you at the Wild West Party tomorrow!

Theme Parties Galore

The club has been a little more crowded this week with different objects because we have been decorating for all the party themes.  It’s been a lot of fun to come up with different items to match the events.

Tuesday night’s theme was called “Lost in the Woods”.  Very easy to decorate this one – grap a few Linden trees out of inventory, a bush here or there and voila! Woods. Our Siberian Tigers Salt and Pepper fit in quite well as did Babar and the giraffes.

The most fun of these odd themes are seeing the costumes that people throw together to fit them.  Of course the Ambrosia Dancers never have an issue since they have more clothes than you could possible conceive of.

Ruby  simply had the best outfit as Little Red Riding Hood. I wonder what she has in the basket for Grandma.  No wonder the wolf wanted to snack on her.

Wednesday started out particularly badly with the grid being offline to log ins for most of the morning resulting in the cancellation of two events. We finally cranked up our first party of the day around 2 pm.The theme was called “Bundle Up!”  We set the air conditioner on stun till it started to snow inside and rolled out the snowman. Because of the limited amount of avatars that were able to log in to the world it was not what we call a blockbuster event but those that were able to come had a great time.

Cody Corvale and Dusty Ayres shake it up on the dance floor trying to keep warm as the cold front blows across the Ambrosia dance floor.

Its still not too cold to show some skin as Veronika Skinstad proves.  She also passed out snowballs and started a fight on the dance floor.that lasted for quite a while.

Wally Douglas bundles up against the cold in his nice sculpted jacket.  Its fun to have a theme like this because normally Ambrosians are pretty scantily clad and the jackets and gloves get lost in the black abyss of inventory.

Lovely Lorellai Kondor gets ready to head for the Alps in this colourful and downright cute number. You can always count on Lor to have the best outfits for these events.

Just as suddenly as it had appeared, the cold front cleared out, the heat lamps came on and summertime arrived again with the “Back to the Beach” Party.  String bikinis, board shorts and sarongs were the order of the day. Ambrosians cavorted on the newly converted sand dance floor.  Hell, even the Disney people can’t change sets this fast!

Palm trees, lifeguard towers and beach balls were abundant.  The DJ tiki hut was left over from a previous build and fit right in to this theme.  People always love an excuse to pull off the layers of clothing and show a bunch of skin off.

Aaron Stahelli displays his amazing tats as a couple of avatars in the background kick off their shoes and hair due to some weird glitch in the system.  The event was enhanced by the appearance of a couple of neo-nazis shouting racial epithets and demanding papers from Ambrosians.  Suffice it to say that they endured a room full of abuse before their 300 meter plunge to the dark earth below.  Ah, you can’t buy entertainment like this!

The night finished off with another fine performance by singer/songwriter Bosco Constantine.  I would show you pictures but unfortunately something happened and they vanished.  I will say that it was yet another sublime performance by the crooner in his usual at-home style.

And so ended another night at the Ambrosia Dance Club.  It was a relatively drama-free day bar the Nazis, but as we all know that does not last very long.

Don’t forget to check the schedule for upcoming events.  There’s always fun to be had when there are real people involved.
